Doubling CO2/N2 separation performance of CuBTC by incorporation of 1-n-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium diethyl phosphate

چکیده

1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium diethyl phosphate ([EMIM][DEP]) was incorporated into copper benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate, CuBTC. Consequences of molecular interactions on the CO2 separation performance CuBTC were investigated. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction results showed that surface morphology crystal structure remained intact upon incorporation ionic liquid (IL); thermogravimetric analysis infrared spectroscopy indicated presence between anion IL open metal sites Gas adsorption measurements for pristine IL-incorporated performed at 25 °C in a pressure range 0.1–1 bar. Data ideal CO2/CH4 CO2/N2 selectivities 1.6- 2.4-times higher compared to those 0.01 bar, respectively. Moreover, CO2/CH4:50/50 CO2/N2:15/85 mixtures, corresponding improved by more than 1.5- 1.9-times

SO2 Solvation in the 1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium Thiocyanate Ionic Liquid by Incorporation into the Extended Cation–Anion Network

We have carried out an ab initio molecular dynamics study on the sulfur dioxide (SO2) solvation in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate for which we have observed that both cations and anions play an essential role in the solvation of SO2. Whereas, the anions tend to form a thiocyanate- and much less often an isothiocyanate-SO2 adduct, the cations create a "cage" around SO2 with those groups...

Impact of two ionic liquids, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methylphosphonate, on Saccharomyces cerevisiae: metabolic, physiologic, and morphological investigations

BACKGROUND Ionic liquids (ILs) are considered as suitable candidates for lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment prior enzymatic saccharification and, obviously, for second-generation bioethanol production. However, several reports showed toxic or inhibitory effects of residual ILs on microorganisms, plants, and animal cells which could affect a subsequent enzymatic saccharification and fermentati...

CO2 Capture and Separation Properties in the Ionic Liquid 1-n-Butyl-3-Methylimidazolium Nonafluorobutylsulfonate

Recently, the use of ionic liquids (ILs) for carbon capture and separation processes has gained great interest by many researchers due to the high solubility of CO₂ in ILs. In the present work, solubility measurements of CO₂ in the novel IL 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium nonafluorobutylsulfonate [C₄mim][CF₃CF₂CF₂CF₂SO₃] were performed with a high-pressure view-cell technique in the temperature r...

Characterization of the electrosprays of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis„trifluoromethylsulfonyl... imide in vacuum

The electrosprays of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis trifluoromethylsulfonyl imide are composed of a complex mixture of ions and charged droplets, which can be analyzed to determine the structure of the beam and infer significant features of the electrohydrodynamic atomization. In particular, we use a combination of retarding potential and time of flight techniques to study these beams and are ...

Simulations of the water exchange dynamics of lanthanide ions in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethyl sulfate ([EMIm][EtSO4]) and water.

The dynamics of ligand exchange on lanthanide ions is important for catalysis and organic reactions. Recent 17O-NMR experiments have shown that water-exchange rates of lanthanide ions in water/1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethyl sulfate (water/[EMIm][EtSO4]) increase as a function of increasing charge density. The trend of water-exchange rates in this solvent is opposite to that observed in water...
